Half the Sky Summit area, a local advocacy group that raises awareness and advocates for ending the oppression of women and girls worldwide, is hosting their first “Women We Admire” event on Sunday, March 9th. The event takes place the same weekend as International Women’s Day and is a celebration of the accomplishments of women.
This enlightening afternoon will feature several talented women from the community who will speak about their careers and the decisions they made along the way that led to their success. Speakers include Cara McCollum, Miss New Jersey 2013, Debora Coffey, Avon,Vice President, North American Communications and Global Public Relations, Nancy F, Muñoz, Assemblywoman representing the legislative district 21 and Asha Bernard, Oncology Counselor at Morristown Medical Center and former founder and Director of the Girl Project for the Women’s Resource Center.
Girls age 8-18 are invited and are encouraged to attend the event with a woman who they admire. $10 donation per person will be collected at the door. All donations support Room to Read Girls Education Program.
