RANDOLPH, NJ- On Mon. Aug. 27 police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Route 10 and Dover Chester Rd. Upon arrival one vehicle was located overturned on Route 10, while the second vehicle was submerged in a retention basin in front of 715 Route 10.
Upon arrival of the officers, the driver of the vehicle (male age 70 from Stanhope) in the basin was already out of his vehicle. He was transported to Morristown Medical Center via ambulance. The driver and passenger both residents of Hackettstown, of the overturned vehicle however, were entrapped. The passenger (female age 66) of this vehicle was extricated by members of the Randolph Fire Department. She was transported via Atlantic Air One to Morristown Medical Center.
During attempts to extricate the driver,(male age 61) it was determined he was deceased. In addition to the Randolph Police and Fire Departments, the Morris County Park Police, Morris County EMS, Atlantic Ambulance, Saint Clare’s Paramedics, Morris County Sherriff’s Office and Morris County Prosecutors Office assisted at the scene.
This accident is still under investigation. At this time, notification to next of kin is still pending; therefore, no names will be released. Anyone with information in regards to this crash is asked to contact the Randolph Police, at 973-989-7010.
