The Second Annual $10,000 Bobcat Derby Day, sponsored by the Nature Conservancy is set for Thursday, Aug. 16

Since the late 1950s, The Nature Conservancy has been working to protect New Jersey’s land, freshwater resources and coastal habitats. The membership-funded 401c3 nonprofit organization sponsors the Bobcat Derby as a way to raise awareness of their work, including a current key land protection initiative in the Garden State: a 32,000-acre forested corridor where New Jersey’s last remaining wild felines, bobcats, can thrive.

The Nature Conservancy’s New Jersey chapter, based out of Chester, N.J,. will have a table on-site for the duration of the Monmouth at the Team event, where guests can learn more about bobcat conservation efforts, collect free swag, enter to win prizes and experience bobcat habitats via virtual reality. On Bobcat Derby Day, riders can don bobcat ears for an extra point in the competition; winners in each height division will receive bobcat-spotted championship coolers and plush bobcat puppets, and the top 24 finishers will receive custom Nature Conservancy C4 belts. The Conservancy will also host a themed photo booth for guests during the afternoon and serve up complimentary gourmet “Bobcat Spots” ice cream in the evening.

The $5,000 Welcome Stake, sponsored by Equine Billing Services is the feature class on Friday, Aug.17.

“What my clients really like is that we design their service to meet their existing business practices,” said Equine Billing Services founder Janet Rizzo. “With other services on the market, the client has to change the way they operate to fit a specific program. What we do is based on our clients’ processes. We find out how you want to operate and do what you want.”

For Rizzo, sponsorship of Monmouth at the Team combines her passion with a valuable way to promote Equine Billing Services. “I will compete again this year,” she said. I’m looking forward to Monmouth at the Team.”

EquiJet will sponsor the $5,000 Child Adult Jumper Classic on Saturday, Aug. 18.

"All of us at EquiJet are happy to partner with Monmouth at the Team and sponsor this wonderful show," said Bastian Schröder, founder and chief operating officer of EquiJet. "We have a longstanding relationship with Michael Dowling and Tucker Ericson. They can always count on our support.”

Schröder and his wife Margot Peroni have a special connection to the iconic venue. They were fortunate to get special permission to have their engagement photos taken at Hamilton Farm.

"We have roots here and we like to support New Jersey events," said Peroni. "I have family ties to the U.S. Equestrian Team. Hamilton Farm is near and dear to our hearts."

Founded in 1895 and originally known as the Monmouth County Horse Show, it is New Jersey's oldest continuously run horse show. In 2016, it was renamed and moved to Hamilton Farm in Gladstone, N.J., home of the U.S. Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation. It was at this iconic location where the greats of the sport trained to represent the United States. Hamilton Farm was recently listed on the national registry of historic places.
