Montclair Police Make an Arrest in Connection with 2 Armed Robberies

MONTCLAIR, NJ - TAP into Montclair reported that a suspect was sought in two armed robberies that occurred on Sunday as reported by Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department.

At approximately 2:00AM, Montclair Police worked alongside East Orange Police to locate a suspect matching the description given to police by the two victims. 

The suspect, Almid K. Edwards,19, of East Orange, turned over an iPhone 5, which was determined to be the item from the Lackawanna Plaza robbery.  East Orange Police placed Edwards under arrest.  He was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, for having the stolen iPhone in his possession.

Through investigative efforts, the Montclair Police Department was able to positively identify Edwards as being the actor in these two robberies. 

Montclair Police Department placed Edwards in custody on Monday at 2:45PM.  Edwards was charged with 2 Counts Robbery, 2 Counts Weapon Possession, 2 Counts Weapon Possession for Unlawful Purpose, 1 Count Aggravated Assault.  Edwards is being held on $75,000 bail.
