Montclair Resident Denise Hamilton to Perform Aug. 5 at Essex County Summer Music Concert Series

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair resident Denise Hamilton to perform at the 2014 Essex County SummerMusic Concert Series on Tuesday, August 5.  The event is scheduled to take place at 7pm in Essex County's Ivy Hill Park located on Mount Vernon Place in Newark.  There is no charge for this event.

Hamilton will perform an electrifying array of Jazz standards and smooth R&B selections when she takes the stage. Hamilton is known for her sultry, yet powerful voice and unique singing style.  A retired East Orange teacher, she has sung for Hillary Clinton, at Cecil’s Jazz Club, in the Trump Plaza and other venues.  Hamilton will perform as follows:

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to visit the Essex County Park System and enjoy the other shows that are part of the 2014 Essex County Free SummerMusic Concert Series.  

Thursday night was the performance of the Infernos, Joe Piscopo, and the 4th of July fireworks display that had been rescheduled multiple times due to the weather.  The event took place in Bloomfield's Brookdale park. Throughout the summer, performances take place in parks all over Essex County.  Upcoming events include performances by Denise Hamilton, Johnny Drama and His Hip Hop 4, the Cast of Beatlemania, a Caribbean Festival and an International Food and Music Fesitval.

“Our Free Concert Series offers a diverse lineup of performers who will take center stage in venues throughout our historic Essex County Park System. Pack a blanket, enjoy the cool evening breeze and dance to the sounds of classical, rock and roll, jazz, big band, Latin and more. We have a spectacular line-up that is sure to entertain and impress,” DiVincenzo said.

Johnny Drama and His Hip Hop 4

Johnny Drama and His Hip Hop 4 features the talents of lead vocalist Nate Ross, Christian Colabelli on guitar, John Kanopka on bass and Craig Scoppa on drums. The versatile musicians perform 1980s new wave and hair metal, 1990s grunge, R&B, hip-hop, millennium club and pop hits, all while iconic videos, classic movie clips and other pop culture imagery shine from behind. Johnny Drama and His Hip Hop 4 will take the stage as follows:

The Cast of Beatlemania

The Beatles music set the pop rock standard for most of the 1960s. Now, in the 2000s, The "Cast" of Beatlemania recalls the memories of that exciting era when the Fab Four ruled the world of rock 'n' roll. This Beatles tribute band features former members who starred in the Broadway production and have performed in all 50 states and over 20 foreign countries, includingCanada, England, Mexico, Brazil and Japan. The Cast includes Carlo Cantamessa as John Lennon, Lenie Colacino as Paul McCartney, JamesFilgate as George Harrison and John Delgado as Ringo Starr. The Cast of Beatlemania will perform as follows:

Caribbean Heritage Day Festival

The 10th Annual Caribbean Heritage Day Festival celebrates the history and culture of our West Indian communities. There will be entertainment, games, food and rides. The SummerMusic Concert Series is sponsored by Rose Squared Productions, The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, Filippo Berio Olive Oil, TD Bank and the Branch Brook Park Alliance. The series is also made possible, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Concerts are held at accessible sites. Persons who require special accommodations or assistance are asked to call at least two weeks prior to the concert to alert staff as to their needs. The Essex County Park System was created in 1895 and is the first county park system established in the United States. The Park System consists of more than 6,000 acres and has 22 parks, five reservations, an environmental center, a zoo, ice skating rink, roller skating rink, three public golf courses, golf driving range, two miniature golf courses, Treetop Adventure Course, three off-leash dog facilities, a castle and the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens.
