MONTCLAIR, NJ - Toni's Kitchen received a matching funds donation of $111,291.50 from The Silver Family Foundation/The Bravitas Group Inc., just in time for Thanksgiving.
The effects of COVID-19 have been longstanding in many communities across the nation. With people losing their jobs and businesses, food service organizations like Toni's Kitchen have risen to the occasion, with the support and assistance of donors and volunteers.
Toni’s Kitchen staff have reported serving upwards of 20,000 meals a week, which is five times more than what they reported serving last year. Toni's Kitchen serves groceries as well as hot meals through their soup kitchen.
Last week, Toni's Kitchen staff posted a heartwarming message of gratitude to their social media pages saying, "Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude after receiving this amazing donation match from The Silver Family Foundation/The Bravitas Group Inc. It’s the ultimate feel-good Thanksgiving story — the community coming together with a big helping hand to raise much need funds to feed those in need."
In recent weeks, Toni's Kitchen has launched a community-wide food drive and fundraiser and the community has risen to the occasion, with overwhelming support. In response, Bob and Rhonda Silver, who have been longtime supporters of the work of Toni’s Kitchen, launched a five-day matching gift initiative on Friday, November 20 to raise funds for food relief programs at Toni’s Kitchen.
Nearly 500 donors gave a total of $111,291.50. Then days later, the Silver Family Foundation/The Bravitas Group arrived with a huge check matching these donations dollar-for-dollar.
A total of $222,583 in funds were raised.
Toni's Kitchen staff continued, "The generosity of our community members never ceases to amaze us! An enormous thank you to Bob & Rhonda Silver for their donation match and everything they do for Toni's Kitchen. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this initiative in order to help us continue to provide food and hot meals to those facing food insecurity in our community."
