MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville girls basketball team had a successful week this past week, as it picked up wins in all four of its games, and saw a major individual milestone occur.

Montville senior Bella Vito became the fifth player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone, and did so in the team's 58-41 win over Chatham on Feb. 20. She joined previous players Julianne Kowalski, Katie O'Reilly, Kellyanne O'Reilly, and Emma Wax as the only players from Montville to do it.

In that game, Montville used a 16-3 fourth quarter run to pull away and pull out the victory. Vito finished with 27 points and six rebounds in her milestone performance, while sophomore Grace Kowalski netted 20 points- which included four 3-pointers. Dani Vito added seven rebounds, three points, and three assists- including the assist on her sister's 1,000th career point.

Then, on Tuesday, it picked up a 66-50 win over Hanover Park to extend the win streak to two. Bella Vito once again led the way with a double-double, as she tallied 23 points and 16 rebounds for the Mustangs, who pulled away in the second half in this one. Dani Vito fell just shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Katie Gorski had 10 points and Alyssa Neff had three 3-pointers to contribute nine.

It dictated the tempo right off the bat in an impressive 72-47 win over a strong Morris Catholic squad on Thursday. It led, 23-13 after one quarter, and took a 45-20 lead going into halftime. Bella Vito had 28 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for Montville. Katie Gorski chipped in with four 3-pointers tallying 16 points and nine rebounds, Carey Werheim added 12 points, while Dani Vito tallied nine points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

It capped off the week with an out-of-conference road win against a good Wayne Valley team, a 59-44 triumph on Saturday afternoon. Bella Vito had 27 points, six rebounds, and six steals to lead the way for the Mustangs. Grace Kowalski added 11 points, Dani Vito had 10 points, and Carey Werheim had nine points and seven rebounds in the win.

Montville now holds a 9-4 overall record as it heads into the final week of the season. It will take on Jefferson in the NJAC Challenge on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Montville Township High School, before traveling to face Randolph on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the season finale.
