MONTVILLE, NJ – Montville defeated Whippany Park 6-0 in its first round game of the Morris County Tournament on Tuesday.
Montville’s pitcher Jessica Shalongo had a solid performance throughout the game tallying seven strike-outs.
“We came into this game with confidence,” Shalongo said. “We knew our bats had to work for us today. I’m proud of everyone for coming back from yesterday’s loss (against High Point) and working hard for the win.”
After two scoreless innings, Montville rallied in the bottom of the second bringing in three runs with the help of a two-run double by Sam Booth. The highlight of the third inning was Jade Tungul’s two-run homerun.
“It was a very good team win today,” Coach John Immediato said. “Last year we lost to Whippany Park in the County finals. This was a good way to respond to that loss.”
