TOTOWA, NJ -- TAPintoTV caught up with staff members at the Totowa Public Library at the recent “Mind and Body Expo” to learn about the many events and community services frequently hosted at the library.
“It’s a chance for everybody to come out and learn more about themselves,” said Philip Schirner, Page at the Totowa Library, speaking about the Anxiety and Depression Initiative’s “Mind and Body Expo.” The Expo featured vendors, workout classes and information about community services for both mental and physical health.
The library regularly hosts third-party events and also organizes their own events, most of which are free or low cost. Later this month, on April 27, the library will be the center of Totowa’s “Trash to Treasures Garage Sale.” Individual residents will be selling personal items at their homes, and the library will be offering paper shredding, electronic recycling, a clothing and household drive, and also hosting a plant sale that same day. “We’re the center of town, so this is a great way to figure out what’s going on in Totowa. We try to be as friendly and helpful as possible,” said Dylan Kleinsorge, Page at the Totowa Library. “We have online resources, but it’s the human aspect of it, it’s the people that are here that help them.”
“People just think we’re a library with books,” said Schirner. “What we want to do in the future is to get more and more people here,” he said. “Once people start coming to the library, they’re going to see that we have space, we have a lot of potential, and hopefully they’ll work with us to provide more things for the people of the community.”
