MORRISTOWN, NJ- The 2019 Morris County Baseball Tournament bracket was released, and the Morristown Colonials earned a No. 6 seed, and a first-round bye in this year’s tournament.

Morristown sits at 2-4 on the season, currently on a 3-game losing skid. The Colonials faced some great opponents in their opening few games and will be ready to go as the season moves on.

Last season’s County final hero is back at it again for Morristown. Tate Ballestero picked up right where he left off from, starting 2019 hitting 7-15, with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Ballestero leads the team with a .467 batting average and 4 runs scored.

Ballestero and 2018 tournament MVP Brennan O’Neill led the Colonials to a 2-0 win over Delbarton in the final last year. Ballestero went yard twice against Jack Leiter propelling Morristown to a title. O’Neill isn’t on the mound this time around, but Caden Tierney is. Tierney was promoted to the Colonials ace in 2019 and has lived up to the role.

In 3 starts, Tierney is 2-1 with a 1.87 ERA in 15 innings of work. Tierney has struck out 16 batters this season, while only allowing 10 hits.

The Colonials will begin their repeat Friday April 26 against the winner of Boonton and Butler.
