MORRISTOWN, NJ - After having 7 semifinalists a year ago, with only 2 advancing to the finals, the
Colonials were more successful this year with 5 out of 6 advancing.
"We checked another team goal off the list today, which was to advance more wrestlers to the Region Tournament than last year," said MHS wrestling coach Casey Flynn.
For the second year in a row, sophomore Aidan Watson made it to the finals at 152 pounds. Watson finished 2 nd place for the Colonials.
The Colonials had four wrestlers finish in third place: freshman Giovanni Rivera at 126 pounds, sophomore Eric Jackson at 138 pounds, juniors Marc Dilluvio at 145 pounds and junior Ryan Jackson at 160 pounds.
"I’m truly proud of their effort and determination today," said coach Flynn. "For some of the wrestlers, this is their first taste of the Region Tournament, but this is a great experience for them to have".
"We as a staff are so proud of all of our wrestlers who competed", he said. "But the best is yet to come".
Morristown showcased endless amounts of effort finishing 5 th place as a team at districts.
