SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Mother Seton broke open a tie game at halftime, dominating the backboards en route to a 53-45 victory over the Lady Chargers of Spotswood High School Monday night. Lena Buccigrossi had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Nikki Melie had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Mother Seton, while Mary Beth Barnosky had 12 points for the Lady Chargers, and Gwynn Marotta and Jill Reed each chipped in with 11.
The game was close throughout the first half, with the teams trading baskets, and halftime arriving with the game tied 18-18. Mother Seton then broke the game open with a 16-9 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.
The Lady Chargers fell to a record of 6-7, with games this week at Wardlaw-Hartridge on Wednesday and home for Metuchen on Friday.
