BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Mountain Park Elementary School second-graders saluted veterans with "Poppies for Patriots."

Ms. Hanselman's, Ms. Liming's, and Mrs. Scherer's students made more than 300 three-dimensional cards with tissue paper poppy flowers and messages of gratitude, encouragement and thanks for veterans recovering in the nearby V.A. Hospital in Lyons.

Students were eager to show their appreciation after learning about the symbol of the poppy flower as mentioned in the poem, "Flanders Field," and watching short clips of the origin of Veterans Day (Armistice Day).
