WESTFIELD, NJ — Mulberry House opened Friday at 415 Westfield Ave., the space formerly occupied by Ana Beal’s. The new restaurant offers tea service, as the former restaurant was also known for, and much more.
Entering on the first floor, you’ll find seating and a tea bar to displaying their collection of teas for the week. Espresso is made here, too. The cheery second floor contains three separate dining rooms—perfect for private parties as well as every-day dining.
At lunchtime, patrons enjoy full tea service, with soups, salads, creative tea sandwiches (like truffled egg salad and Peking duck) and an assortment of desserts, such as crème brulee and chocolate tarts. Kids teas are offered, as well, with Nutella sandwiches and grilled cheese made just for them. On weekends brunch is added, featuring items such as eggs Benedict, fluffy omelets, French toast and more.
Co-Owner Chef Anders Goldkuhl visits local farms each week, and at dinner the menu changes frequently to reflect his finds, with items such as roasted pork loin with white eggplant, fingerling potatoes cauliflower puree and sweet mustard sauce. In addition to entrées and desserts, patrons can nibble on several appetizers and a host of tapas plates designed to go perfectly with a glass of wine. (BYO.)
Co-Owner and Event Coordinator Jenna DeLorenzi said that she and Goldkuhl are excited to join the Westfield food community.
“We did a lot of research and we found that Westfield was populated with a lot of great restaurants and food,” said DeLorenzi.
Mulberry House plans to host many in-house events, including cooking classes beginning in late fall.
“This is a perfect location for showers, for an intimate corporate event, for rehearsal dinners,” said DeLorenzi.
