The Patrol K-9 Unit is a uniformed subdivision of the Police Department.  When a situation occurs that can benefit from the special abilities of a canine team, they are then assigned to assist. SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Police Department and the Fanwood Police Department sponsored the 30th annual National Night Out celebration in each town on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The observance began 30 years ago as an effort to promote interaction with police and the communities they serve.
