LIVINGSTON, NJ - To benefit National Adoption Day in November, knitters and crocheters from Creative Hands, a volunteer program of The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW)/Essex, created an assortment of knitted scarves and hats.

Stefanie Burgess-Bertrand, Senior Case Supervisor for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children of Essex County, picked up the items recently at the NCJW office in Livingston to benefit approximately 70 children who are scheduled to be adopted in Essex County in conjunction with National Adoption Day.

“NCJW’s contribution will be a heartwarming gift for these children as they begin a new life with their new families,” said Burgess-Bertrand.

Creative Hands meets once a month to create knitted and crocheted items to donate to many different NCJW/Essex community programs. For more information or to join a dedicated group of knitters and crocheters, visit, or call 973.740-0588.
