BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Board of Education announced Tuesday that the district’s newly appointed superintendent, Dr. Victor Hayek, will begin in the district as of Aug. 1.
The superintendent search was a long, extensive process with interviews for the position starting in September 2013, and beginning anew earlier this year after the first search did not end in a hire.
Hayek is coming from the position of superintendent at Pequannock Township. He was hired June 24 to serve as superintendent in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.
According to the contract approved by the board, and by the county superintendent, Hayek has been appointed at a salary of $171,279 per year for the period of Sept. 1, 2014 through June 30, 2016.
Assistant Superintendent Cheryl Dyer has been serving as interim since the retirement of former superintendent Michael Schilder in July 2013.
The board of education expressed its congratulations to Hayek and their gratitude to Dyer for stepping in as interim superintendent through this past school year.
