CAMDEN, NJ — While continuing to implore residents to fully cooperate with contact tracers, Camden County reported 35 new coronavirus cases across 15 municipalities on Wednesday.

"The information you provide to a contact tracer is only used to identify others who were exposed to the virus and to keep them from exposing others,” Freeholder Director Lou Cappelli said this afternoon. “We know that these are awkward conversations, but they are critically important to protecting our community.

Cappelli, as well as Congressman Donald Norcross and Camden Business Association (CBA) Vice President Nichelle Pace, will provide updates on COVID-19 and other matters during a virtual press conference Thursday at 11 a.m.

The county, which announced 25 new cases Tuesday, has totaled 9,241 coronavirus cases and 550 deaths since the outbreak began in March. No new deaths were reported today.

"If we combine widespread contact tracing cooperation with the use of masks and social distancing, we will see the spread of coronavirus slow dramatically," Cappelli added.

Long-term care facilities, which will soon be able to in-person visits, have positively tested 1,869 residents and staff countywide— also confirming 314 deaths.
