CORAL SPRINGS, FL – New Covid-19 vaccination appointments at a Broward County health system opened up on Wednesday -- and shortly after opening, the appointment slots were filled.
The Memorial Healthcare System opened its phone lines and website for the next round of vaccines for seniors.
Within a few hours, the hospital’s website said all the slots were filled and to check back later.
The appointments were for the Moderna vaccine and could be made either by phone, 954-276-4340, or at the MyChart portal, https://mychart.mhs.net, for people who are 65 and over.
The appointments are open to those who aren’t Memorial Healthcare System patients. Until now, the online MyChart option was open to current hospital patients.
This has been the case at health systems as well as the public vaccination sites run by Florida Department of Health: the moment new appointments are announced, they quickly fill up, leaving many seniors frustrated and confused.
Managers of the sites are asking for patience and encourage people to check back on the websites and to call back frequently.
