New Edison Board of Education Members Sworn In

EDISON, NJ – In a packed room full of family, friends and supporters, Edison’s newest Board of Education members were sworn in last night at Education Center on Pierson Ave.

Daniel Michaud, Edison BOE Business Administrator, presided over the reorganization meeting and administered the oaths of office to the newest board members. Newest member to the board, Beth Moroney, was sworn in first since she received the highest number votes, followed by Frank Heelan and Jerry Shi.

As the most junior board members, Moroney and Shi shared some personal thoughts with their fellow board members and the public in attendance.

Beth Moroney told the story of her former running mate Dr. Chang-Hui Shen. Who recently became an American citizen, and voted for the first time and voted for himself in an election. “This is truly an American dream and so representative of the township of Edison.” Beth went on to give special thanks also to Kiel Thoms, her other running mate as well.

“I want to thank the all voters for trusting me and giving me this opportunity,” said Shi. “We are one board; let’s work together for one common goal to provide the best education for the students.”
