The ancient art of calligraphy is alive and well at the hand of Ed Beissel. He has taken a selection of poems from A.L. Alexander’s book “Poems That Touch the Heart” and using pen and colored ink delightfully rendered them on the page.
Beissei has been doing calligraphy for over 30 years. He started by lettering on china, personalizing baby cups, and items for anniversary remembrances. He moved on to poems on paper when his wife was in a nursing home. It was there that he did a poem in calligraphy for a fellow resident’s husband.
He also uses his calligraphy skills to produce poems for fundraising for the Friends of the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library.
The Casano Community Center is located in downtown Roselle Park and is a gathering place for the whole Roselle Park community with programs for senior citizens during the day, and activities throughout the year for all ages. The mission of the Gallery is to give Roselle Park residents a venue to display their artistic works and connect with the community at large. The Art Gallery accepts work only from Roselle Park residents.
