GLEN ROCK, NJ - Mary Barchetto, the newest member of the Borough Council, has hit the ground running in her first month, leading the charge for the 125th Borough Anniversary celebration.
"Glen Rock 125 is coming along nicely!" she told TAPinto this week. "We have a schedule of fun-filled and educational events to encourage Glen Rockers to learn about, honor and celebrate our Borough’s proud history."
Barchetto said in the next few weeks, the steering committee, which in addition to her includes Mayor Bruce Packer, Councilwomen Arati Kreibich and Kristine Morieko, Borough Administrator Lenora Benjamin, Recreation Director Katie Frey, and Ashley Biggs, will start advertising for volunteers to fill the various committees.
"The hope is to get as many residents involved as possible to truly make this a community-led event we can all be proud of and enjoy. It’s going to be fantastic!” Barchetto said.
In addition to the 125th undertaking, the councilwoman said the first weeks have been "exciting."
“I’ve been having, and continue to have, meetings with different Borough Departments to be sure I have a thorough knowledge of the workings of our busy municipality. It’s been a real pleasure to meet everyone and I look forward to working with our fantastic staff. I’m also very excited to get to work on my committees – Community Affairs, Finance, Public Safety and Licenses and Franchises - as well as my roles as liaison to Glen Courts and Senior Advisory Committee. I look forward to learning from my colleagues on these committees and contributing my own ideas and energy to best serve our residents."
