TRENTON, NJ -- Gov. Phil Murphy tweeted on Fri., July 3, that the state had an additional 58 deaths among COVID-19 confirmed-positive residents, more than double the total of 27 the day before. The state's total number of COVID-19 deaths has now risen to 13,308 lives lost.
Further, the state had 386 new positive cases of COVID-19, pushing the cumulative total to 172,742.
Gov. Murphy reminded New Jerseyans to stay vigilant in trying to prevent the spread of the disease:
"As you celebrate our nation’s independence this weekend, please remember: use common sense, keep your social distances, wear a face covering and wash your hands frequently," Murphy tweeted.
The governor also announced that he will be a guest on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday morning, July 5, to talk about the growing number of COVID-19 cases.
