SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - A summer full of victories ended with a championship defeat for the New Providence 8U baseball team on Wednesday night.

The Pioneers capped off a 10-4-1 season with a 4-2 loss to Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the championship game of the New Providence Green League.

The 8U Pioneers, who were seeded second in their bracket, had advanced past teams from Basking Ridge and Summit in earlier rounds before facing top-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood.
