New Providence P.B.A. Local #132 and New Providence Recreation will hold their annual Trout Fishing Contest, restricted to children 15 years and under, at Oakwood Park on Saturday, April 5, from 8 to 11 a.m. Bring your rod and reel to fish for trout of varying sizes stocked in the Oakwood Park pond. Prizes, generously donated by the PBA, will be awarded at 11 a.m. to children who catch one of the six big lunkers.
Adults are welcome to accompany their children but are not permitted to cast their own line during contest hours.
Fees are $5 per person or $10 per family. Online registration is available at www.newprov.org/recreation or in person at the Recreation Department. There will also be same-day registration at the contest.
Fishermen between 16 and 69 years old are required to have a NJ fishing license with a trout stamp and may fish after the contest is completed. Fishing license information can be found at the State’s Division of Fish and Wildlife website: http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/als/websalesintro.htm.
