BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The New Providence community bid a fond farewell on Friday night to New Providence Deputy Police Chief Scott Torre, who retired from the force after thirty years of service to the Borough. Hundreds of people attended the retirement dinner and celebration at Berkeley Plaza for Deputy Chief Torre, including members of the Borough Council, Board of Education, the police department, as well as friends and family. Several Union County police chiefs also attended.
Councilman Jim Madden said, "We are proud to celebrate thirty years of service of Scott Torre to New Providence. He's been an incredible asset to our community. A great big thank you from a grateful town." To Torre he said, "We wish you the best in retirement from your Mayor and Council."
