NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The borough will host its second annual Day of Service this Saturday, May 17.
Geared toward kids and families, the event offers a simple way for residents to contribute to local organizations by completing tasks intended to be fun for all.
This year’s event will be held at the American Legion Post 433 on Elkwood Avenue between the Memorial Library and Lincoln Field from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will feature card-making for the troops, a "Good Deed" scavenger hunt, a basketball shootout and a hot dog and lemonade stand.
“The New Providence Day of Service is a great way for our community to come together and do some good deeds in town," said event organizer Allison Smith. "This year's event will feature Hoops for Troops at Lincoln Field, Good Deed Hunting and Card Making for the Troops at the American Legion Hall, and a Hot Dog cookout for all to enjoy."
An additional Day of Service Fundraiser will be held at Smashburger on Wednesday, May 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mention the Day of Service and Smashburger will donate $1 for every entrée purchased to the Day of Service Project.
All proceeds benefit the American Legion and Bonds of Courage, both of whom are groups that support our U.S. Troops and Veterans.
