NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - More than 160 patrons attended the New Providence Fire Department's second annual Beefsteak Dinner Saturday night.

The all-you-can-eat dinner featured fruit, vegetables, penne pasta, filet mignon, and ice cream cake, all catered by Giresi's Catering. The firefighters bartended, deejayed, and served the food. C&D Cooling and Heating donated the beer.

Firefighter Brian Morgan, who chaired the event, spoke to the dinner's importance for the community. “It gets everyone together, and lets them get to know us,” he said.

The Ladies Auxiliary ran tricky-tray raffles and a 50-50. “We assist the department and help them with fundraisers like this. We reached out to the local businesses,” said Cathy Morgan, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. The prize baskets, donated by local businesses, contained gift certificates, autographed sports posters, a weed whacker, and other items.

The event concluded with department members calling out the winners the "bread tower contest," the $315 50-50, and the prize baskets.

Funds raised by the dinner will go toward repairs to the fire department’s building and other projects.
