NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The Family Fun Summer Concert series hosted by the New Providence Business will get under way Thursday night with a performance by the 1960s pop group 1910 Fruitgum Company.
The event will take place rain or shine at 7 p.m. If the weather is good, the venue will be Centennial Park. If there is inclement weather, the concert will move inside to the municipal gym.
Anyone attending the concert is urged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket. The Prestige Diner will be providing free hot dogs and Zita's will supply free ice cream.
Magician Simon Mandal will provide additional entertainment, and there will be face-painting activities for kids.
The 1910 Fruitgum Company staked its claim to fame in the late 1960s with bubblegum AM radio hits such as "Simon Says" and "1-2-3 Red Light."
The David Cedeno Band will be the next featured musical act in the Summer Concert series on July 17.
