The New Providence Reds (17-2) defeated the West Milford Indians (9-10-1) 15-0 on Sunday 7/27 to move into the New Jersey Amateur Baseball League Metal Semi Finals.
Looking to conquer the only team to defeat them during the regular season, the Reds did just that and they got things going early to put things out of reach by scoring six runs in the first inning.
First baseman Charles Savite and Left fielder Nick Sommo both added RBI singles in the inning and both finished the day 3-4 scoring two runs apiece.
The Reds would score five more runs in the second inning including an RBI triple from Marc Giacalone who led the Reds with four RBI on the afternoon.
Catcher Will Anderson continued his hot hitting since joining the Reds adding four hits and scoring three runs to lead the team. Shortstop Matt Nesto also added three hits, as the top six Reds in the lineup went a combined 15-23 with twelve runs scored and ten RBI to pace a balanced Reds offensive attack.
On the mound for the Reds Doug Pastore tossed six solid innings, scattering three hits and walking none. Tommy Natale-Drown pitched a scoreless seventh inning to finish things off.
The Reds will now host the Teaneck Yankees (16-3) on Sunday August 3rd in the semifinals with one more win putting the Reds in the championship for the second summer in a row.
During the regular season the Reds swept the Yankees winning 10-9 in walk-off fashion on June 8th at TD Bank Park in Bridgewater and most recently beating the Yankees 15-8 in Teaneck on July 13th.
First pitch for the semifinal game is scheduled for 9:30am at New Providence High School.
The Reds are managed by Matt Sommo and Sal Nesto, both of New Providence and both former coaches on the college level. For more information on the New Providence Reds, visit and "like" their page on Facebook or follow them on Twitter @NewProvReds.
