New Providence Resident Held for $100,000 Bail on Sex Charges


NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - A borough resident is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail on several charges stemming from alleged sexual contact with a juvenile, according to New Providence police.

Sergeant Daniel Henn charged Robert L. Chenoweth, 67, with aggravated criminal sexual contact, two counts of criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child after an investigation was conducted into allegations that Chenoweth initiated sexual contact with a juvenile.

"The incident was reported by a third party and was thoroughly investigated by the New Providence Police Detective Bureau," according to a New Providence Police Department report.  

Chenoweth has been remanded to the Union County Jail in lieu of bail and has a mandatory Union County Superior Court date.
