NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – With the playoffs beginning around the middle of February, the New Providence High School swim team has been having a positive season thus far.
“Our kids are working hard,” said coach Walter Kempner. “Everybody seems to be having fun and promoting some good team spirit. I expect our team to do well in these next few weeks, and I’m hoping we can place well at the Union County Championships.”
Currently, the boys' team has a 3-1 record while the girls' team has a 4-1 record. Each team’s most recent victory was over Gov. Livingston on Tuesday night.
“The team spirit couldn’t be any higher.,” said boys captain Dan Patel, “We’ve been performing beyond our abilities all the time and we’ve been benefiting a lot from Coach Barletta.”
“We’ve played pretty well and better than previous years,” said girls captain Megan Sullivan, “We’ve won four meets and had a great win against Gov. Livingston on Tuesday. We have a lot of underclassmen that are encouraging and enthusiastic.”
Both teams return to the pool on Thursday when they faceoff against Plainfield at the Morris Juncture Pool.
