NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -  New Providence Police, Fire and EMS departments will host the borough's first National Night Out in Centennial Park from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight (Aug. 5).

National Night Out showcases the vital importance of emergency services and their realtionship with the community. The event promotes awareness, safety and neighborhood unity.

Police officers, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians will have their equipment on display and will be on hand to interact with the community. Food and beverages will be provided by the New Providence Business and Professional Association and entertainment by Al Elefante. 

A bounce house and other activities will be available for children. Kids under 18 will be eligible for a chance to win a Sony PlayStation 4 as well as other prizes. Lantern Hill Residences and Lions Club are also supporting this event.
