NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Providence’s popular “Family Fun Night” Summer Concert series--paid for, organized and run by the BPA--concluded with a bang on Thursday evening in Centennial Park.
Although many were worried that the final concert would be pushed inside due to rain, all was well as the outdoor concert began. Several community members arrived at the park, armed with picnic blankets and lawn chairs, ready to settle down and enjoy the atmosphere.
The 1910 Fruitgum Company was the featured entertainment of the night, and covered several of their hit songs, as well as a few crowd favorites. As adults enjoyed the music, children at the event were kept further entertained by a magician, and were treated to face-painting and balloon animals.
Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream and Prestige Diner, two sponsors of the event, provided free Italian ices and hot dogs for all concert-goers. The entire “Family Fun Night” concert series was sponsored by the New Providence Business Community. Sponsors include The Lions Club of New Providence, Elefante Music & School for the Performing Arts, Braunschweiger Jewelers, and more.
After seeing the success of the series this year, organizers are quite confident that the event will return again next summer, with even more activities for everyone.
