SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - 1 South - the new restaurant located (not surprisingly, given its name) at 1 South Orange Avenue - held their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 23.
1 South has a restaurant and bar, as well as private event spaces. According to their website, which explains the range of 1 South's spaces: "be it an intimate dinner for 2, a private corporate dinner for 10 or a special event under the stars on our huge roof-top terrace, an evening to remember awaits you."
The restaurant, which serves Contemporary American Cuisine, is open for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch and features in addition to their main menu, "bar bites" and a kids menu.
Some of the entrees on the menu include Grilled Branzino, Lamb Chops, and Mushroom Dumplings. There are more than five salads offered, including the 1 South which is listed on their website as heirloom tomatoes, plum tomatoes, basil, croutons, evoo and tomato shallot dressing.
The grand opening was attended by Deborah Davis Ford of the South Orange Board of Trustees, and by Matt Glass and Bob Zuckerman of the South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA), as well as community members and friends and family of the restaurant operators.
Mario Andreani, Owner of 1 South, said they are glad to be part of the South Orange community, telling the crowd, "we're looking forward to enlightening your culinary experience."
Nick Sarantidis, 1 South's General Manager, thanked the crowd for coming and said, “the best is yet to come. There is an audience in South Orange for the better things hospitality has to offer, and we are here at 1 South prepared to deliver it to all.”
Adding his welcome to 1 South was Matt Glass, SOVCA Chairman. "The next evolution of this beautiful space is so promising for the South Orange restaurant scene and we’re thrilled to have Nick and his team with us," said Glass.
Bob Zuckerman, Executive Director of SOVCA, also welcomed the new restaurant to town.
"We’re all so excited to be at the ribbon cutting and official grand opening of 1 South. The new management of 1 South has really upped the game and are going out of their way to make it a destination dining establishment in South Orange Village Center. We all wish them the best of luck and success," said Zuckerman.
