SPARTA, NJ - Main Street Events announces the 17 Annual USA Track and Field-sanctioned Grand Prix Event, Main Street 5K/10K Festival and Fitness Expo set for Saturday, April 25.
The pre-race Pasta Party and Packet pickup sponsored by Villa Capri II will be the night before, Friday, April 24 from 5 until 8 p.m.
The Rev It Up Run for Fun will start at 9 a.m. The annual event has a new location and will benefit the Sparta PAL. This walk and run will be held at Sparta PAL Building at 38 Station Rd.
The events start under the overhead train trestle and through the Sparta High School grounds to the residential Ratcliff Rd loop and back. The 10K will continue up West Mountain Rd and back to the Ratcliff loop and then return to the PAL area.
The Sparta PAL was started in the 1960's by Fred Geffken, former Sparta Police Chief. The mission of the PAL is to have Police Officers interact with Sparta youth in a positive way through athletics. The PAL is now under the direction of the current Chief of Police, Ernest Reigstad
Reigstad and many others are looking forward to a great event in coordination with the various C.E.R.T. emergency preparedness and Sparta MMA. Event sponsor Rev It Up Run will provide a refreshments at their auto care center at the half way turn-a-round point.

Free shuttle service is available at Station Park or Kids Castle Park for participants and the general public, courtesy of Sussexpress Shuttle on race day from 8 a.m. through noon.
Sparta Main Street 5K/10K Festival and Fitness Expo offers something for all ages. The event will include free massages, food, product sampling, a bounce house, door prizes, big giveaways and more. Over 120 custom medals and many watches will be awarded by age group. Participants have a chance to win special awards given to the top three male and female 5k and 10k runners.
At 11:45 a.m. the grand prize winner will be announced and receive a propane grill, donated by Eastern Propane. The Main Street Events Café will be providing delicious food from Villa Capri II, Sparta Diner and Krave Events, free for all participants. Multiple hydration stations and samplings for runners and walkers. More than 40 vendors will be on hand, including experts in fitness, Zumba warm-ups, nutrition, martial arts, and much more.

Money raised at the event will go to support the Sparta PAL. Currently the Sparta PAL provides programs in boys and girls basketball, volleyball, and fencing, and a variety of other activities at our facility at 38 Station Road. Additionally the Sparta PAL along with the Sparta Police Department sponsors the Sparta Police Youth Division which is comprised of approximately 150 students in grades 6, 7, 8 and 9. They do community service projects in Sparta Township and participate in anti-drugs and anti-violence educational programs. This group is led entirely by Sparta Police Officers.
