SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ – New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will put his coaching skills to work when the Verizon Geno Smith Football ProCamp comes to town on Saturday, June 14, at 3:30 p.m. at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School (667 Westfield Road).
A starting QB in his rookie season, Smith will offer instruction for kids (Grades 1-8) in a special three-hour session during which he will highlight the finer points of the game. ProCampers will experience various training stations specializing in fundamental skills of football in small individual groups. Games and skill contests will be held.
“It really is amazing when you have high profile people to take time out of their day to support the community,” said Amy Boroff, owner of Be Craftful in downtown Fanwood and a Jets fan whose daughter will attend the camp. “It’s an opportunity for our children to be exposed to the role models that they look up to. I can’t wait to start making more Jets helmets.”
A standout at the University of West Virginia, Geno Smith was the Jets starting QB in 2013. During his first year, he led the Jets to an 8-8 record, a two game improvement over the team’s 2012 season. Smith finished with over 3,000 yards passing, 366 rushing yards, and 12 touchdowns.
The cost of the camp is $99. For more information visit http://www.procamps.com/genosmith.
