NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team played away against Union City on Saturday and hosted Parsippany Hills on Friday, taking both games as losses.
Newton lost to Union City 66-37. Alex Rivas contributed 11 points, while Kevin Ayoso and Jimmy McKeown each contributed nine.
Donovan Thomas added four points to the score board, while Alex Stone and Brian McKeown each added two points.
Newton hosted Parsippany Hills on Friday and lost a close game, 61-56. Brian McKeown put up 15 points for the Braves. Stone added 10 with six points dropped in from three point land. Rivas contributed nine, with five from the foul line.
Nine from Newton would score but it was just not enough to get past the Vikings. Thomas added six, Jimmy McKeown contributed five, Aaron Fantasia had four, Justin Mayhood and JD Heller each had three apiece and Ayoso had one.
The Newton High School boys basketball team’s overall record is now 3-8 so far this season, while their conference-division record is 1-3.
Newton will take on Phillipsburg away on Wednesday, January 16 beginning at 7 p.m.
