NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls basketball team defeated Pascack Valley 38-28 Monday, February 18, on the Braves’ court.
Kaitlyn Lynch led the Braves contributing 11 points.
Newton came out strong, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and adding another five in the second to take the lead of 19-10 at halftime.
The Braves kept the lead as Pascack Valley came back in the third scoring 10 points to Newton’s 11 and both teams scored eight points to end the game. In the end, Newton came out on top.
Jade Luciani and Maddie Gore each put up nine points. Gore was strong on defense as well, pulling down 10 rebounds throughout the game. Amy Fehr had seven rebounds.
Madison Leonardo put up seven points with one rebound and one assist. Davisann Boyd contributed two points with two rebounds and three steals.
The Newton High School girls basketball team moved their overall record to 19-4. Their 10-0 conference record puts them in first place.
Newton will host West Morris on Wednesday, February 20 in a night game beginning at 7 p.m. at Newton’s gym.
