Newton Medical Center Offers Open House for Outpatient Behavioral Health Services

Atlantic Behavioral Health at Newton Medical Center will offer an open house of its Outpatient Department on Wednesday, April 23, from 6:00 to 8:00pm, to allow the community to meet with clinicians and learn more about its counseling groups and supportive services.

Taking place during Alcohol Awareness Month in April and just before Mental Health Month in May, the event will highlight programs that address those and other behavioral health issues. Atlantic Behavioral Health staff will be able to also help attendees learn how to navigate insurance issues and the referral process for behavioral health services.

The numerous programs that guests will be able to learn about include:

·         Acute Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient programs, both of which are voluntary day programs designed to assist individuals in recovery from mental health issues. Individuals participate in group therapy, skill building groups, individual counseling, and therapeutic activity groups as well as psychiatric sessions.

 

·         For individuals living with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse conditions, the “First Step” Co-Occurring Disorders Intensive Outpatient Program offers all of these services with a focus on dual recovery

 

·         Psychiatric evaluations and pharmacological management, which are available through Atlantic Behavioral Health’s team of experienced psychiatrists and nurse practitioners

 

·         An array of outpatient services including:

o    individual counseling

o    alcohol and substance abuse counseling

o    domestic violence education

o    anger management program

o    dialectical behavioral therapy program for adults and teens

o    child and adolescent counseling

o    veterans programs

o    support groups for chronic illness

o    depression treatment groups

o    anxiety management groups

o    men’s and women’s support groups

o    wellness and recovery education group

o    challenges of aging support group

Newton Police Officer Sworn in At Town Council Meeting

NEWTON, NJ—In front of his family, friends, the town council, and his fellow officers, Steven Van Nieuwland was sworn in as a member of the Newton Police Department during the council meeting on Monday.

Sparta Police: House Fire on Maple Parkway

SPARTA, NJ - Two dogs appear to have been lost in a house fire on Maple Parkway on Tuesday.  Police report the homeowner of 64  Maple Parkway was initially unaware that the left side  of his home was on fire when Cpl. Frank Schomp  arrived around 3:25 p.m.
