Newton's Farmers Market!

June 21, 2014 at 2:20 PM

For years the Foodshed Alliances' winter market has been the only farmers market in Newton. Now their host: the SpringBoard Shoppes has developed the SpringBoard Virtual Farmers Market. The project makes farmers markets easy for both the shopper and the farmer. Farmers can stay on their farms and consumers can avoid the hot, crowded market space.

From Wednesday until Saturday, customers and restaurants will have access to a virtual catalog. The inventory is updated weekly according to what farmers and vendors will have available. It features local produce, fruit, meat (Antibiotic and Hormone free), honey, herbs, and ready made meals, to name a few.

Orders and payments are due online. For people who aren't techno-savvy, you may order in person with a SpringBoard Shoppes Staff member.

SpringBoard VFM will handle the collecting, organizing, and storing of orders, which will be picked up by customers on the following Wednesday at the SpringBoard Shoppes. Pick up occurs 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Parking is available on 145 Spring Street and behind the building.

In our state and in my ex-rural region of Sussex County opioid abuse continues to be a major issue, but it has become now more of a national issue. According to The New York Times, “Opioid addiction is America’s 50-state epidemic.”  ...
