Next Level Recruiting Helps Athletes Succeed

December 6, 2012 at 6:57 AM

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Many students in high school don’t continue playing sports in college and very few make it professionally. Two years ago, New Providence residents James Fogg and Lindsey Hunt-Fogg aimed to change this situation when they created Next Level Athletic Recruiting. Lindsey is the recruiting advisor and her husband is the videographer.

Next Level Athletic Recruiting prides itself as being a “Best in Class” Sports Recruiting Video Company, and outperforms market competition by using professional, high definition, digital equipment, and delivery of the final product within a reasonable timeframe.

The company films the games, edits and produces a high quality recruiting video and develops a profile reflecting both pertinent athletic and academic data, including NCAA Eligibility Number, if applicable. This information is what college coaches are looking for to get the recruiting process started.

“It’s very interesting and it’s very enriching working with the parents as well as the student athletes,” Hunt-Fogg said.

All three of their sons played football in high school and she and her husband attended and videoed every game. As they got older, her middle son said he wanted to play in college, so she reached out to schools to find out what it will take to continue playing football at the next level.

She learned what the process was like and helped him secure a spot on the team at the University of Texas. She and her husband continued to go to games even after their children graduated because of their love for the sport.

A few years ago, they were visiting her husband’s cousin in North Carolina and realized he was a very talented basketball player. She asked him if he wanted to pursue sports in college and when he said yes, they helped him create a highlight reel and assisted him with the application process.

Hunt-Fogg said she realized she and her husband could do this professionally and help kids fulfill their dreams. So, a year later they started their business and began receiving phone calls from all over north Jersey. Their website had sample videos, but she said they had no expectations.

“My husband prides himself in his professionalism with that camera,” she said.

They follow kids around for a few games during the season, get to know them well, but only do it if the student wants their help. So far they have filmed soccer, basketball, softball and baseball players and hope to do football soon.

She said it’s been a great experience and each athlete becomes a part of their family during the process.

“I explain to them that it’s a showcase of not only their athletic ability, but their knowledge of the game,” she said. “I just get such a rush from knowing that I’m able to take my skills and help another student to achieve their goals.”

They have been instrumental in student athletes from the area being recruited and obtaining both Division I and Division II scholarships at colleges and universities such as Binghamton University, Sacred Heart, Caldwell College and Rutgers University, as well as many other schools.
