NJBIZ, New Jersey’s weekly business news publication, recently honored Jayne Warne, President, Matrix New World Engineering, Inc., as one of New Jersey’s 2011 Best 50 Women in Business during an awards reception and ceremony held on March 28, 2011 at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey.

Matrix New World Engineering, Inc. (Matrix) is the largest and most respected woman-owned full-service engineering firm in the northeast.  Last April, as one of the few New Jersey companies invited, Matrix deployed approximately 40 experts to the Gulf of Mexico to participate in spill-containment and wildlife rescue operations in what has become the largest oil spill in history.  Matrix employees assisted U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials by the conduction of biological-services which included wildlife spotting and census operations, as well as the capture of pelicans and other aquatic birds where life-saving procedures were carried out.  Matrix has staff involved in claims and settlement and lease negotiation in support of the response effort in Louisiana. Additionally, Matrix staff played an active role in Mobile, Alabama, where they worked to devise booming and other strategies which directly addressed spill containment and cleanup issues.

Moreover, Matrix has participated in major transportation and infrastructure projects including the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, 2nd Avenue Subway Programs, Grand Central Terminal Rehabilitation, East Side Access, Permanent PATH WTC Design and Reconstruction, and Monitoring at Ground Zero and Lower Manhattan after September 11.  The firm has also provided expert engineering consulting services to the US Army Corps of Engineers, USEPA National Office of Enforcement and the US Navy.

The Best 50 Women in Business awards program honors New Jersey’s most dynamic women in business that have been making headlines in their field.  An independent panel of judges selected the top 50 winners based on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community involvement and advocacy for women.

This recognition comes on the heels of Matrix being selected, in December of 2010, NJBIZ “Company of the Year,” in the 51-100 person category.

According to Jayne Warne, PE, President, “I am delighted NJBIZ has chosen to give me this honor.  It is very exciting, and as wonderful, is that Matrix is a NJBIZ “Company of the Year.”  As stated earlier, this recognition is a testament to the collective talent of our employees.  We are thrilled to have played a significant role in the Gulf of Mexico crisis and to be recognized for our work here in our own state.”

(Matrix) was formed in 1990 as a primarily environmental consulting firm serving a small base of clients.  Today, Matrix provides civil, environmental, geotechnical, oil spill and building facility engineering in the northeast.  The company has expanded into Phoenix, AZ and has satellite offices in the Gulf.
