METUCHEN, NJ - Bridge Street in Metuchen was reopened at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, a full three days ahead of schedule.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) advised Metuchen Mayor Vahalla yesterday afternoon that repairs to the Bridge Street bridge have been completed ahead of schedule. The bridge is open to traffic.
The asphalt overlay on the bridge deck was failing. This necessitatied a priority repair, which required a temporary closure of the bridge and a detour that started Monday, May 12.
The brdige closing was to remain closed until midnight, Sunday, May 18, impacting Edison commuters.
