No Major Injuries Reported from Three-Car Accident on Main Street

CHATHAM, NJ - No one was seriously hurt in the three-vehicle accident that snarled traffic on Main Street on Tuesday, July 16.

At 2:14 p.m., patrolman Wayne Shivers investigated a three-vehicle accident on Main Street near Van Doren Avenue. A 2013 BMW driven by Gary Hall, 61, of Westfield, was travelling west on Main Street when he struck a 2012 Cadillac stopped in traffic.

The impact pushed the Cadillac into a Dodge in front of it. The Cadillac was driven by Barbara Tamburro, 58, of Florham Park and the Dodge was driven by Alex Schiaffino,19, of Chatham. Tamburro suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad. Hall was issued a summons for Careless Driving. The Chatham Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist.

On July 6 at 2 a.m., patrolman Andrew Pereira stopped a 2008 Lexus on Main Street after he observed the driver was unable to maintain his lane and was driving through the marked parking spaces. The driver, Sonu Santhosh, 22, of Fort Lee, showed signs of intoxication and he failed the field sobriety tests. He was arrested and brought to headquarters for breath testing. After processing, Santhosh was released to a family member. He was charged with the following: DWI, reckless driving, and careless driving.

On July 15 at 8:54 a.m., patrolman Brian Colatrella investigated a four-car accident on Main Street near Hillside Avenue. Magdalena Sliwowska, 32, of Warren, was travelling east on Main Street in a 2011 Acura when she struck a Toyota that was stopped in traffic. The Toyota in turn struck another Toyota which in turn struck a Dodge. No injuries were reported, all of the cars were driven from the scene, and Sliwowska was issued a summons for careless driving.

On July 15 at 1:50 p.m., patrolman Brian Colatrella investigated a two-car accident on Watchung Avenue near River Road. A 2005 Mitsubishi driven by Adam Roberts, 19, of Summit, was stopped in traffic when it was struck from behind. The other car was a 2003 Jetta driven by Ryan Metcalfe, 22, of Basking Ridge. No injuries were reported, both cars were driven from the scene, and Metcalfe was issued a summons for careless driving.
