Nor'easter Nemo Set to Take on West Essex Area

WEST ESSEX, NJ -  As of 11am, it’s lightly snowing and Nor'easter Nemo is expected to continue to snow until 5am tomorrow morning. We have received 0.5" of snow so far. We are under a Winter Storm Warning, Essex County has declared a state of emergency beginning at 2pm, towns are reminding residents of their storm ordinances and area schools have called for early dismissals and cancellations.

The snow is expected to be combined with sleet and high wind gusts. Strong wind gusts should begin here today around 1pm. These conditions will make for dangerous travel and could result in near blizzard conditions. Tonight will be the most difficult time period with wind gusts and heavy snow adding an additional 5.3.” As always, power outages could occur.

Total accumulation for the area: 14 inches by Saturday morning.

Yesterday, due to the approaching storm, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. declared a snow emergency in Essex County beginning today at 2pm. On all Essex County roads, there will be no parking and tow away zone laws will be enforced. This will enable Essex County crews to effectively clear snow from the streets. In addition, all Essex County Park System roadways and senior buildings will be closed on Friday. Visitation at the Essex County Correctional Facility will be cancelled on Friday and Saturday.

Caldwell, Essex Fells, Fairfield and North Caldwell police departments have all issued reminders that parking on streets will be prohibited during the snowstorm.
