Come Enjoy Free Massages, Kemetic Yoga, Deep Breathing Exercises and More
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The North Jersey Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is partnering with the Summit Medical Group to host this year’s Small Steps to Better Health and Wellness annual walk and wellness day. The walking event also includes free massages, Kemetic yoga and more. The wellness walk event is today, Saturday, October 6, beginning at 9 a.m. to 12 noon and will be held at the Clipper Pavilion in West Orange, located at 560 Northfield Avenue (the location is near the paddle boats and large gazebo). Convenient parking is across the street. Everything is free and open to the public and outdoors.
President of The North Jersey Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, Alexis Colander-Roberts said, “This event is our way of inviting the community to join us to focus on wellness for one day. Our hope is that you will make wellness a way of life every day. This event is our gift to the community – please join us.”
This the third year the organization has hosted the walk and the first year the Summit Medical Group is joining them. The Summit Medical group is sending a team of physicians and patient representatives to conduct screenings, to talk about breast health, primary care, urgent care, colon cancer and overall wellness.
The following Summit Medical Group staff will be participating: Dr. Cynthia Paige, MD, MBA, Family Medicine, Jennifer Igbokwe, MD, Family Medicine, Raekeisha Dean, Physician Assistant, Trecia Phill, Patient Service Representative and additional staff.
President Colander-Roberts thanked Natalie Thigpen of the Summit Medical Group for creating a new partnership for the organization and for bringing physicians and staff who bring a wealth of services. She also thanked Links Health Co-chairs Jessica Colon, Jessica Morse and Tisa Gonzalez for spearheading this important community event.
Last year, nearly 100 people participated. The schedule includes continuous walking around the South Mountain reservoir, massages by Laina (you must register for your 15 minute massage when you arrive) and Kemetic Yoga by Majuta Wellness, who will conduct 2 30 minute yoga sessions; beginning at 9:30 to 10 and from 10:15 to 10:45.
