NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – North Plainfield mailed out the annual sewer bills as they do every spring, but a thousand or more have not arrived two weeks later.
“A lot of people have called in to tell us that they did not receive their sewer bills,” said Borough Administrator David Hollod. “We don’t know exactly how many were not delivered.”
Residents who haven’t received their sewer bill should call the tax office at (908) 769-2908 as soon as possible to make sure they get the proper payment information. The initial installment is due on May 12th, and at this time there is no plan to delay that date.
There appears to be no pattern to the missed deliveries, with people calling in to report the issue in all areas of the town. If the issue were a misplaced box of envelopes the problem would be limited to one geographic area, but it is much more widespread.
As a result authorities have no way of knowing which households have and which have not received a bill.
“Because the issue is widespread we need people who haven’t received their bill to call and tell us,” said Hollod.
