.NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- After more than six years holding meetings in exile at the Community Center the North Plainfield Borough Council will return to the newly renovated Council Chambers in Borough Hall on Somerset Street.
A combination of poor contractors, unexpected problems with the building's infrastructure and cost overruns, finally all the work is done and the room is ready. In addition to Council meetings, the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment will also use the room. The Municipal Court will continue to meet at the Watchung municipal complex as part of a shared service between the two communities.
The meeting will be at 7:30 on Monday, March 24th on the second floor of the North Plainfield Borough Hall at 263 Somerset Street. It will start with a Council Agenda Conference featuring a Mayoral proclamation of National Service Day, and discussions of public communications and the vacating of a lease of various property to the NJ American Water Company.
A Regular meeting will follow with a hearing and vote on exceeding the state budget appropriation limits and a consent agenda vote. The public will be able to comment on any issues before both halves of the meeting.
