The Thursday Morning Club’s “Le Bazar de Noel” will return this year for a two-day Holiday Boutique from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov 15 and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov 16 at the Madison Community House, 25 Cook Ave. “The event will be the club’s largest fundraiser this year devoted to providing operating money for the activities of the Madison Community House,” noted Peggy Philp, Ways and Means Chairwoman.
Connie Rostiac and Joan Cummings, the event’s co-chairwomen, have selected 26 local artisans and exhibitors who will sell handmade items and gifts for men, women and children ranging from clothing, hats, scarves, totes, accessories, jewelry, soaps, candy, invitations, stationery and holiday decor, to a large selection of china, crystal and collectibles donated by Thursday Morning Club members. In addition to a committee of 35 members assisting Rostiac and Cummings, all 249 members of the club will be donating their time and will bake goods for the event.
“La Patisserie” will sell homemade pastries, cookies, pies and loaf breads while “Le Bistro” will serve lunch made by the club’s catering department from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day for $15. “Restaurants Plus” will offer opportunities for a gift certificate to a restaurant.
The Thursday Morning Club owns and operates the Community House, its Nursery School and Before and After School Child Care program. The Community House provides a meeting place for the town’s various sports, recreational and civic groups and a home for Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that offers support, clothing and career development for women. Organized in 1896, the Club is a member of both the New Jersey State and General Federation of Women’s Clubs.
